Beijing: The US tech giant Nvidia's chief Jensen Huang praised China's advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) during the opening ceremony of the China International Supply Chain Expo. Huang described China's open-source AI as a 'catalyst for global progress,' highlighting its potential to enable countries and industries worldwide to join the AI revolution. According to Anadolu Agency, Huang emphasized the transformative nature of AI, likening it to fundamental infrastructures such as electricity and the internet. He noted that AI is reshaping various sectors, including scientific research, healthcare, energy, transportation, and logistics. In his address, Huang acknowledged the world-class development of large language models by Chinese companies such as DeepSeek, Alibaba Group Holding, Tencent Holdings, MiniMax, and Baidu. Nvidia recently achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first public company to reach a $4-trillion market capitalization. This accomplishment came after Nvidia surpassed both Apple and Microsoft, which had previously reached a $3-trillion market value. Founded in 1993, the California-based company first crossed the $2 trillion mark in February 2024 and surpassed $3 trillion in June. The rapid growth of Nvidia is attributed to the rising demand for AI processors and equipment, fueled by advancements in AI chatbots like ChatGPT. In a related development, Nvidia announced its decision to resume sales of its H20 AI chips to China following the US government's commitment to lift licensing restrictions. This move is expected to bolster Nvidia's presence in the Chinese market and further contribute to global AI progress.
