Gaza: The Palestinian resistance group Hamas stated Wednesday that an Israeli soldier was killed and seven others were injured during an attack in southern Gaza.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, announced that its fighters targeted an Israeli force with an anti-personnel mine in eastern Rafah. This assault reportedly resulted in eight Israeli casualties, including one fatality and seven injuries. Following the attack, an Israeli helicopter was observed evacuating the injured soldiers from the site.

There has been no immediate response from Israel regarding the claims made by Hamas. Despite the ongoing conflict, which began over 21 months ago on October 7, 2023, Palestinian resistance factions continue to carry out strategically planned ambushes in the region, challenging Israeli military efforts and highlighting Tel Aviv's struggles to meet its objectives in the war.

Israeli military statistics indicate that since the onset of the war, at least 895 Israeli soldiers have been killed, and 6,112 have been injured. In contrast, Israel's military operations have resulted in the deaths of more than 59,200 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, in the Gaza Strip. The conflict has led to significant devastation, crippling the enclave's health infrastructure and causing extreme food shortages.

In November of last year, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the ongoing situation in Gaza.
