Istanbul: Turkish Aerospace Inc (TAI) and GE Aerospace have entered into an agreement to enhance the F404 turbofan engines and explore future collaborations for Trkiye's jet trainer, Hurjet. The memorandum of understanding was signed in Istanbul during the IDEF International Defense Industry Fair.
According to Anadolu Agency, the agreement focuses on utilizing GE Aerospace's F404 turbofan engines in the Hurjet and developing the necessary procurement for their integration. It also seeks to foster cooperation and garner support from GE Aerospace in conducting flight test activities with new prototypes.
Besides these collaborations, the companies have agreed to take steps towards the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of the F404 engine. This partnership aims to underscore Trkiye's technological capabilities in the defense sector, enhancing Hurjet's success and expanding its global reach.
The 17th edition of the six-day IDEF, organized by KFA Fairs with support from Trkiye's Defense Industries Secretariat (SSB) and the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, began on Tuesday. Anadolu is serving as the event's global communications partner.
