Gaza city: At least 56 people have been killed and several others injured in Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip since early Thursday, medical sources told Anadolu.
According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli artillery shelled civilians waiting for aid delivery near the Zikim area, northern Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of nine people and injuries to dozens more. In Gaza City, a drone strike targeted a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians, killing four individuals, including a woman. Additional strikes in Deir al-Balah and the Nuseirat refugee camp claimed the lives of three people each.
Israeli jets also struck homes in the Bureij refugee camp, causing two fatalities and injuring others. In western Khan Younis, two people died after the Israeli army targeted a tent. Further violence in Khan Younis resulted in 14 deaths and multiple injuries as Israeli forces opened fire on civilians near an aid distribution point.
In Gaza City, airstrikes on a vehicle in the eastern al-Tuffah neighborhood killed three people, while two others died in a separate attack on a civilian gathering. In the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, four Palestinians lost their lives as Israeli forces targeted a civilian crowd.
Central and southern Gaza also experienced deadly strikes, with nine fatalities in Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis, due to airstrikes on homes. In a separate incident near the aid distribution center in the al-Shakoush area of western Rafah, a Palestinian woman was shot and killed as she approached to collect humanitarian aid.
Israel's military actions have resulted in the deaths of more than 59,500 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. The ongoing campaign has severely impacted the region, collapsing the health system and causing acute food shortages.
Last year, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the enclave.
