Turkish Defense Firm Katmerciler Inks Deal with Malaysia’s Deftech to Jointly Produce Armored Vehicles

Istanbul: Turkish defense and vehicle firm Katmerciler and Malaysian defense firm Deftech signed a cooperation agreement on Thursday to jointly produce and export EREN 4x4 armored vehicles at the 2025 International Defense Industry Fair in Istanbul. The EREN 4X4 is designed for efficiency and adaptability with features that make it suitable for a range of military applications.

According to Anadolu Agency, the deal was signed by Katmerciler CEO Mehmet Katmerci and Deftech CEO Mohammad Shanaz. The agreement involves the joint production of the EREN 4x4 in Malaysia and plans for exports from the country, strengthening the defense production capabilities of both nations.

Katmerciler, a prominent land vehicle manufacturer, is showcasing its innovations at IDEF, including the 4x4 Mine-Resistant Armored Vehicle HIZIR, recognized for its combat efficiency and high export potential. Additionally, the company is displaying the Medium Class Level 2 Unmanned Ground Vehicle (O-IKA 2) Remote Controlled Firing Platform (UKAP), which marks Trkiye's advancements in unmanned ground vehicle technology.

The 17th edition of the International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF) spans six days and started on Tuesday. It is being held across multiple venues in Istanbul, including the Istanbul Fair Center, Ataturk Airport, Wow Hotel, and Atakoy Marina. The event is organized by KFA Fairs with the support of Trkiye's Defense Industries Secretariat (SSB) and the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, with Anadolu as its global communication partner.
