Istanbul: A Turkish defense firm, MKE, has introduced a groundbreaking drone defense system named Tolga, offering a comprehensive and integrated solution to counter drone threats. The unveiling took place at the International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF) 2025 in Istanbul, where the firm is showcasing its innovative Tolga Drone Defense System, designed to address new-generation security challenges.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Tolga system includes a command and control center, advanced radar systems, turreted weapons, and a specially developed ammunition family. This multi-layered defense shield combines electronic jamming with physical destruction capabilities, allowing for a dynamic response based on the threat range. The system employs turreted weapons of various calibers and sizes to ensure effective neutralization of drone threats.

Mobile radar stations detect and track data, transmitting it instantly to relevant stations to neutralize threats during their initial phase. Wireless drones detected up to 10,000 meters (6.2 miles) can be blocked using jammers. In the subsequent phase, turreted weapon systems provide 360-degree protection, effectively destroying threats with Tolga turrets of different calibers based on range. The 35 mm Tolga Tower offers effective destruction up to 3,000 meters, the 20 mm up to 1,000 meters, the 40 mm up to 500 meters, and the 12.7 mm up to 300 meters.

MKE Deputy General Manager Tolga Celik shared insights into the system's capabilities, emphasizing its modular structure, rapid reaction capability, and high accuracy, enabling it to perform a wide range of tasks from fixed base areas to critical facility protection. Celik noted that the firm has a broad product range, with 470 products, and they aim to display a significant portion at IDEF 2025. Highlighting the threat drones pose in warfare, Celik explained that the Tolga Drone Defense System was developed as a solution, equipped with radar and electro-optical systems for detection and neutralization.
