Famine Claims Lives of 5 More Palestinians in Gaza Amid Ongoing Israeli Blockade

Gaza: Five additional Palestinians, including two children, have succumbed to starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, as reported by the Health Ministry.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Health Ministry announced on Saturday via a brief statement on Telegram that "five people died of famine and malnutrition over the past 24 hours." This latest development raises the total number of deaths due to famine, exacerbated by Israel's extended blockade since October 2023, to 127. Among the deceased, 85 are children.

The Israeli military has rejected international demands for a ceasefire and has continued its offensive on Gaza since October 7, 2023. This has resulted in the deaths of over 59,700 Palestinians, the majority being women and children. The ongoing bombardment has devastated the enclave, leading to severe food shortages.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice concerning its actions in the region.
