Trkiye Now Fastest-Growing Tourism Market for Chinese Tourists

Cappadocia: Trkiye has become the fastest-growing tourism market for Chinese tourists, with more than 400,000 visitors last year, according to China's ambassador to the country. Speaking at a Monday event in the tourist hub of Cappadocia organized by the Chinese Embassy in Ankara, Jiang Xuebin highlighted Trkiye's emergence as a world-renowned tourism destination due to its deep-rooted history, culture, and attractions.

According to Anadolu Agency, Jiang noted the significant increase in Chinese tourists visiting Trkiye, especially in the post-pandemic period, with more than 409,000 Chinese tourists arriving in 2024. This marked a 65.1% increase compared to the previous year, making Trkiye the fastest-growing market among international visitors. He emphasized the strengthening ties between the two countries, which will positively impact tourism.

Jiang also praised Cappadocia and other tourist destinations in Trkiye as must-see spots for Chinese tourists. He mentioned the cultural and tourism cooperation achieved between China and Trkiye, including a memorandum of understanding signed last year. This cooperation has facilitated tourist infrastructure, increased flight services, established online promotional platforms, and organized cultural performances.

The civil aviation authorities of both countries have significantly increased passenger flight rights, and future plans include deepening cooperation in history, culture, art, and archaeology to encourage more Chinese tourists to visit Trkiye. Jiang described Cappadocia as a world wonder attracting tourists globally with its historical sites and rich activities, and as an important cultural symbol of romantic Trkiye for the Chinese people.

Jiang also addressed the bilateral trade volume between the two countries, which reached $48.3 billion last year, making China Trkiye's second-largest trading partner. He highlighted the historic connection between China and Trkiye through the Silk Road, and Trkiye's role as a natural partner in China's Belt and Road Initiative. Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, China-Trkiye relations have maintained a positive development trend, with increased bilateral contacts and alignment of strategic initiatives.
