Ankara: Trkiye and Syria signed two trade deals aimed at deepening economic and commercial relations, announced Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Bolat shared on X that he met with Syrian Economy and Industry Minister Nidal Al-Sha'ar to explore new areas of cooperation focused on mutual development and safeguarding interests through social assistance. The inter-delegation meetings covered a range of topics, including bilateral trade volume, investments, the reconstruction of Syria, and logistics infrastructure projects.

Following these discussions, the parties signed the "Protocol on the Establishment of the Trkiye-Syria Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO)" and the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Administrative Development and Governance." Additionally, the ministers agreed to formalize a protocol on establishing the Trkiye-Syria Business Council, which is set to be signed in Istanbul on Wednesday.

Bolat emphasized that these economic collaborations, rooted in historical ties, shared history and culture, and mutual interests between Trkiye and Syria, are being revitalized. He noted that these efforts will promote peace, stability, development, and prosperity not only for the two nations but also for the entire region.
