Saratov: Russia announced that at least one individual was killed during an overnight Ukrainian drone attack in the Saratov region, with an industrial facility also sustaining damage.

According to Anadolu Agency, Saratov Governor Roman Busargin stated on Telegram that several residents required medical assistance, with one person being hospitalized. Tragically, there was one fatality resulting from debris falling from downed Ukrainian drones, which landed in a courtyard in front of a residential building. As a precautionary measure, residents from three apartment buildings were evacuated, and a temporary accommodation center was set up at a nearby school.

Busargin also reported that an industrial enterprise in the region was damaged, though he did not provide specific details about the facility. Emergency services are currently addressing the situation at the scene.

The Russian Defense Ministry has claimed that their air defenses intercepted 121 Ukrainian drones during the attack, with eight being downed over the Saratov region, located approximately 460 kilometers (285 miles) from the Russia-Ukraine border. Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the incident or Russia's claims.

This development occurs as Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump prepare to meet in Alaska next Friday to discuss ending the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The meeting marks the first face-to-face encounter between the sitting leaders of Russia and the US since June 2021.
