Berlin: The consumer price index (CPI) in Germany remained stable at 2% in July on a yearly basis, aligning with the preliminary data released on Wednesday. This consistency marks a continuation from June, when the CPI also stood at 2%, the lowest level since last October, as indicated by data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
According to Anadolu Agency, the CPI figures were previously recorded at 2.1% in both May and April, and 2.2% in March, following a 14-month high of 2.6% in December. A notable decrease was observed in energy prices, which fell by 3.4% year-on-year in July. Despite this decline, inflation pressures persisted due to above-average increases in services and food prices, which saw rises of 3.1% and 2.2%, respectively.
The core inflation rate, which excludes food and energy, remained at 2.7% on an annual basis in June, unchanged from the prior month. Consumer prices experienced a 0.3% increase in July compared to June, up from 0% in the preceding month, also matching the preliminary estimates.
