Washington: The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to make history by hosting its first-ever fight on the White House lawn on July 4 next year, UFC CEO Dana White announced during an appearance on CBS Mornings. The event will coincide with the celebrations of the nation's 250th birthday.

According to Anadolu Agency, White revealed that he had discussed the idea with President Donald Trump on Monday night and plans to meet with Trump and Ivanka Trump later this month to finalize the details. Although no fighters have been selected yet, a source familiar with the planning confirmed that the White House anticipates the event will proceed as planned. Trump initially expressed his interest in hosting a UFC fight at the White House during the kickoff for the year-long 250th birthday festivities last month.

White acknowledged potential logistical challenges, as UFC events typically fill large stadiums, and seating on the White House lawn would be limited. However, he emphasized the symbolic significance of the event, stating that the setting of the Octagon on the lawn with the White House and the Washington Monument as backdrops is monumental.

The announcement comes as UFC finalizes a major seven-year streaming agreement with Paramount, valued at an average of $1.1 billion annually. White and Trump share a long-standing relationship, with Trump hosting a UFC event at his Atlantic City casino in 2001 and White supporting Trump's political endeavors, including introducing him at the 2024 Republican National Convention.
