Southern jutland: One person was killed and several others injured when a passenger train operated by Danish State Railways (DSB) derailed in Southern Jutland after colliding with an agricultural vehicle. The incident occurred on a Friday afternoon between Tinglev and Kliplev, as the IC3 train was en route to Sonderborg with approximately 95 passengers on board.
According to Anadolu Agency, South and South Jutland Police confirmed the fatality and reported that two individuals were airlifted from the scene due to their injuries. The authorities have informed the next of kin of the deceased. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the collision.
In response to the accident, a large-scale rescue operation was launched, involving officers, paramedics, and fire crews, who were present in significant numbers at the site. Police have requested the public to respect the cordons and avoid the area. They also advised anyone involved in the accident to contact the police at 1-1-4 or register at the designated assembly point.
Additional support came from Germany, with an ambulance arriving to assist. Dogs and drones were deployed to aid in the search and rescue efforts. Banedanmark, the rail infrastructure operator, confirmed the derailment and stated that work is ongoing to secure the area. Consequently, train services between Tinglev and Sonderborg have been suspended for the remainder of the day.
