Kyiv: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha held a call Tuesday with US Secretary of State Mark Rubio and top European diplomats to discuss security guarantees for Kyiv. Sybiha confirmed Ukraine's readiness for a trilateral peace meeting at the leadership level with the US and Moscow.

According to Anadolu Agency, Sybiha participated in a significant telephone conversation organized by US Secretary of State Mark Rubio alongside European allies, focusing on the path to peace and security guarantees for Ukraine. The talks involved Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, German Foreign Minister Johannes Wadeful, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.

Sybiha expressed gratitude to Rubio for his efforts and acknowledged US President Donald Trump for his leadership in peacemaking. He highlighted that the discussion was a continuation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's recent visit to Washington and the work of national security advisors. Sybiha reiterated Ukraine's demand for security guarantees that are specific, legally binding, and effective, covering military, diplomatic, and legal levels.

He emphasized the importance of the Ukrainian army in any security guarantees, stating that its maximum strengthening is a top priority. Sybiha also stressed Kyiv's readiness to engage in further talks, expressing Ukraine's willingness to take steps towards peace through meetings at the leadership level in any format and location.

Sybiha warned Moscow that continued rejection of meaningful steps toward peace would result in increased sanctions and the strengthening of Ukraine's capabilities. He reiterated Ukraine's commitment to its role as a contributor to transatlantic security and a reliable ally. Ukraine has consistently urged binding security guarantees from Western partners as the conflict with Russia persists into its fourth year.
