Copenhagen: Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen has summoned the US envoy following reports that American citizens are conducting an influence campaign in Greenland, as reported by the state broadcaster DR. Rasmussen stated that any interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom is unacceptable and has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to arrange a meeting with the American charge d'affaires at Asiatisk Plads.

According to Anadolu Agency, this action follows revelations by the broadcaster that at least three US citizens linked to President Donald Trump and the White House are attempting to create discord between Denmark and Greenland. This autonomous Danish territory has been the focus of Trump's interest, as he has expressed intentions for it to become American territory.

Niels Fastrup, an investigative journalist with DR, indicated that these individuals are actively traveling between the US and Greenland, working to foster a Greenlandic secessionist movement. They are reportedly building networks and compiling lists of individuals who either support or oppose Trump's ambitions regarding Greenland.

The Danish Security and Intelligence Service in Greenland has also informed the broadcaster that Greenland has been targeted by influence campaigns. Despite the gravity of the situation, there has been no reported response from the White House to the broadcaster's inquiries. However, the US Embassy in Copenhagen has conveyed a message from a US government representative, emphasizing that the US respects the Greenlandic people's right to self-determination and stating that the US government does not control the actions of private citizens with interests in Greenland.
