Ankara: Trkiye has been elected as a member of the Council of Administration and the Postal Operations Council of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) for the 2026-2029 term, the Foreign Ministry announced Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trkiye's election to these councils is a concrete indication of its important place in the international postal sector and its active contribution to the work of the UPU. The elections took place during the 28th Universal Postal Congress, hosted in Dubai.

The UPU, established in 1874, is one of the United Nations' oldest specialized agencies and coordinates international postal policies among its 192 member countries.
