New york: The $100 billion trade volume target between Trkiye and the US "continues to be our common goal," said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday. He expressed his optimism at a Turkish investment conference organized by the Trkiye-US Business Council, highlighting the role of the private sector and new investment initiatives in achieving this ambition.
According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan noted that the bilateral trade volume has been on an upward trajectory, surpassing $35 billion in 2024. He emphasized the need to remove obstacles in Trkiye-US defense industry cooperation, suggesting that the spirit of alliance should guide efforts to foster joint projects, supply chains, and production.
Erdogan expressed dedication to utilizing bilateral mechanisms more effectively, particularly amid global tensions over tariffs. He stressed the importance of maintaining the momentum gained in trade and voiced hope that reciprocal customs duties would not impede progress. The president identified potential areas for collaboration, such as energy, cyberspace, and space, to further accelerate bilateral ties.
Erdogan also outlined steps to enhance Trkiye's investment climate, focusing on creating a transparent, competitive, and secure market environment. He pointed to Trkiye's strategic advantages, including its strong logistics infrastructure, modern ports, and advanced highway and railway networks, which position it as a key hub for investors.
