PKK/YPG Terror Group Launches Artillery Attack on Civilians in Northern Syria

Aleppo: The PKK/YPG terror group, operating under the name SDF, has launched an artillery attack on civilian-populated areas in northern Syria, local media reported Sunday. The terrorist organization targeted the villages of Humayma and Al-Keyta in the Deir Hafir region of Aleppo.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the Syrian army responded to the attack by striking the PKK/YPG positions. This assault comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, especially after the Syrian presidency announced an agreement on March 10 to integrate the SDF into state institutions, emphasizing the country's territorial integrity and rejecting any separatist agenda. The organization, however, has violated the agreement multiple times.

Since the ouster of Bashar al-Assad last December, after his 24-year rule, the Syrian government has heightened security measures. Assad's departure to Russia marked the end of the Ba'ath Party's control since 1963. A transitional administration led by President Ahmed Al-Sharaa took office in January, navigating the complexities of a nation in transition.
