Trump Promises to Build Record Number of Ships in Speech Marking Navy’s 250th Anniversary

Norfolk: US President Donald Trump vowed to build a record number of ships for the US Navy during celebrations Sunday marking its 250th anniversary in an effort to strengthen the country's naval power. "We're going to have more great ships being built than we've ever had being built in the history of the Navy," he said during his address in Norfolk, Virginia.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump emphasized the US's dominance in submarine technology, claiming the country is "25 years ahead of any other country." He assured the naval forces would not be deployed into battle "unless it's necessary." The President highlighted the Navy's 250 years of "strength, tenacity, and unwavering courage" and praised its role in recent military operations.

During his speech, Trump referenced the Navy's involvement in US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities during Operation Midnight Hammer in June, detailing the successful launch of 30 tomahawks from a submarine. He warned Iran against pursuing nuclear weapons, stating the US would respond decisively if necessary.

Trump also mentioned the Navy's efforts to combat cartel activities in the Caribbean Sea, claiming success in eliminating boats linked to American deaths and family destruction. He described these actions as "an act of kindness" and noted ongoing operations to deter such threats.
