Gaza: Huwaida Arraf, spokesperson aboard the Conscience vessel, vowed that the ship will continue its course toward Gaza in an effort to break Israel's blockade and reach the besieged enclave by Oct. 10.
According to Anadolu Agency, Arraf stated that the Conscience vessel is part of a fleet of civilian vessels from the Thousand Madleens organizations aiming to challenge Israel's blockade. She emphasized that the vessel is dedicated specifically to healthcare and media workers, highlighting the dangers faced by these professions in Gaza. Arraf accused Israel of targeting Palestinian journalists and medical workers, asserting they are being killed and tortured, with their families also under threat.
Arraf called for global action against Israel, urging the world to rise up and sanction the nation to end the ongoing suffering. She conveyed a message of solidarity to those in Gaza, assuring them of the activists' determination to reach the enclave.
Recently, Israeli naval forces intercepted and seized vessels from the Global Sumud Flotilla, detaining over 470 activists from more than 50 countries. This flotilla was also attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, challenging the blockade. Since October 2023, Israeli military actions have resulted in the deaths of over 67,100 Palestinians in Gaza, predominantly women and children, leaving the region uninhabitable due to starvation and disease.
