Ankara: Two people were killed and a third was injured in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, in the latest violation of last year's ceasefire agreement, the Health Ministry said. A ministry statement reported that a strike targeted the town of Deir Aames in Tyre, resulting in one fatality and one injury.
According to Anadolu Agency, one more civilian was killed when an Israeli drone struck a bulldozer in Yater town in the Bint Jbeil district. The ceasefire, established in November 2024, followed a prolonged cycle of cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israel that began in October 2023. The conflict escalated into a comprehensive Israeli offensive by September 2024, causing over 4,000 deaths and approximately 17,000 injuries.
As per the truce terms, Israel was expected to completely withdraw from southern Lebanon by January this year. However, only a partial troop withdrawal has occurred, with Israel continuing to maintain a military presence at five border outposts.
