Turkish Stock Index Closes Midweek with 0.53% Decline

Istanbul: The Turkish benchmark stock index concluded Wednesday with a decline, closing at 10,756.27 points, marking a 0.53% decrease from the previous day's closing figures.

According to Anadolu Agency, the BIST 100 index commenced the trading day at 10,787.48 points and witnessed a reduction of 57.84 points from Tuesday's closing. Throughout the trading session, the index fluctuated, reaching its lowest at 10,729.88 points and peaking at 10,907.31 points.

In terms of market activity, 66 indexes recorded a decrease in value, while 33 ended the day with gains. The daily transaction volume was noted at 136.1 billion Turkish liras, equivalent to $3.26 billion, with the overall index valuation standing at 9.98 trillion liras, or $239.9 billion.

Financial market data at 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT) showed the USD/TRY exchange rate at 41.7145, the euro/lira exchange rate was 48.4870, and the British pound was trading at 55.9730. Commodity prices included gold at $4,041.85 per ounce and Brent oil at $66.25 per barrel.
