Malaysia: Malaysia on Wednesday condemned Israel's attack on the Freedom Flotilla, which was en route to the Gaza Strip to deliver humanitarian aid. The Malaysian government is urging the immediate release of Malaysian activists who were detained during the incident.

According to Anadolu Agency, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim criticized the actions as a violation of international law in a statement shared on social media platform X. The incident involved the Israeli Navy intercepting ships from the Freedom Flotilla Coalition's Thousand Madleens to Gaza, approximately 120 nautical miles from the enclave.

Anwar described the detention of a humanitarian aid ship as a breach of human rights and called for the immediate and unharmed release of Malaysian activists. He emphasized that the Malaysian government will collaborate with other nations and international bodies to secure their release.

This recent incident follows another where Israeli naval forces detained over 450 activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla last week. Israel, which has imposed a blockade on Gaza for nearly 18 years, has frequently intercepted Gaza-bound ships, seizing cargo and deporting activists.

The blockade has severely affected Gaza, home to almost 2.4 million people. The situation worsened in March when Israel intensified the siege by closing border crossings and blocking essential supplies, contributing to a humanitarian crisis in the region. Since October 2023, Israeli military actions have resulted in significant casualties and destruction in Gaza. Negotiations for peace, led by US President Donald Trump, are reportedly ongoing in Egypt.
