Moscow: Russia supports the Gaza settlement plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Wednesday, emphasizing that Moscow views it as a step toward ending the violence and ensuring humanitarian access.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zakharova stated, "We support the US administration's plan for Gaza, which includes a ceasefire, the release of detainees, and the full restoration of humanitarian access." She highlighted the significance of fully implementing all provisions of the proposal.

Zakharova recalled that Russia had previously submitted several draft resolutions to the UN Security Council calling for a ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid, noting that these initiatives were blocked by Western countries. She reiterated that the primary focus remains on halting the violence and preventing further civilian casualties.

She expressed Russia's conviction that the root cause of the events in both Gaza and the West Bank is the deprivation of the Palestinian people's sovereign right to determine their own destiny. Zakharova affirmed that a comprehensive, long-term settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution is necessary to ensure lasting peace in the Middle East.

In addition to the Gaza situation, Zakharova also commented on Washington's reported plans to supply Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. She warned that such actions could inflict "irreparable damage" on Russian-American relations. Zakharova cautioned that the US administration's decision risks escalating confrontation and could harm the recent signs of resuming bilateral dialogue between the two nations.

The Russian diplomat concluded that Moscow is "closely monitoring developments" and expressed hope that Washington "will heed its signals" to avoid further escalation.
