Oslo: Norwegian Football Association President Lise Klaveness has reiterated the importance of continuing discussions on the alleged violations of FIFA and UEFA statutes concerning Israel's actions in Gaza, emphasizing that such conversations are crucial for accountability in international football.

According to Anadolu Agency, Klaveness made her remarks during a press conference preceding the Norway-Israel match, part of the European Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. She addressed a question regarding the recent ceasefire in Gaza and whether her stance on banning Israel from international football remains unchanged in light of it. Klaveness expressed happiness over the peace agreement, stating, "More important than tomorrow's match is that the bombings stop and the hostages return home."

Klaveness clarified her focus on violations of FIFA and UEFA regulations rather than humanitarian and international law issues, which she considers political. She stressed the need for the discussion on these violations to persist. "It's a rules-based system, and we strive to intervene in all such cases," she noted, highlighting the federation's commitment to promoting these conversations even if they risk being perceived as politically biased.

She also emphasized that the Norwegian FA has been transparent in its actions, rather than operating covertly, and acknowledged that their visible stance might have prompted reactions from the Israeli Federation.
