Gaza city: The Israeli army has commenced a gradual withdrawal of its troops from the Gaza Strip, moving eastward to locations delineated in US President Donald Trump's plan to end the ongoing conflict. This withdrawal is expected to be completed within a 24-hour timeframe, as reported by Israeli media.

According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli Channel 12 detailed that the withdrawal involves repositioning forces to the 'yellow line' as agreed upon in the Trump plan between Israel and Hamas. The planned withdrawal will see Israeli forces moving eastward from regions such as Rafah and Khan Yunis in the south, as well as from the northern areas of the Gaza Strip, drawing closer to the border with the State of Israel.

The Israeli Army Radio indicated that the withdrawal, adhering to Trump's plan, is set to conclude by Friday afternoon. This move follows the announcement made by Trump early Thursday, revealing that Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the first phase of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange plan.

This agreement emerged after four days of indirect negotiations held in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh. The talks featured participation from delegations representing Trkiye, Egypt, and Qatar, all under the supervision of the United States.

The conflict, which has been ongoing since October 2023, has resulted in the deaths of nearly 67,200 Palestinians in Gaza, with the majority being women and children. The sustained attacks have left the enclave largely uninhabitable.
