Pyongyang: Russia will fully honor its obligations to North Korea under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said on Saturday during a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang.

According to Anadolu Agency, Medvedev emphasized the solid legal foundation of the relationship between the two nations, rooted in an alliance treaty. He assured that Russia would continue to base its ties with North Korea on this foundation, steadfastly fulfilling the obligations that arise from the treaty. The agreement includes provisions for the continuous development of bilateral relations and the immediate provision of military and other assistance if either side faces an armed attack.

Medvedev highlighted Moscow's significant regard for Pyongyang's support of Russia's 'special military operation'. He also reflected on the shared history between the nations, noting the heroism of Korean soldiers who helped liberate the Kursk region, a memory that holds a lasting place in the hearts of Russians.

The talks took place as Medvedev led the United Russia party delegation's visit to Pyongyang to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea. Earlier this year, Russia and North Korea signed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Pyongyang.
