Gaza city: Three Palestinian factions have called on Trkiye, Egypt, Qatar, and the US to ensure Israel adheres fully to the terms of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. In a joint statement, Hamas, the Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) expressed appreciation for the mediatory efforts of Trkiye, Egypt, and Qatar, urging continued pressure on Israel to comply with each aspect of the accord.
According to Anadolu Agency, the factions highlighted their extensive efforts to secure the release of Palestinian detainees, particularly women and national leaders, noting that Israel has impeded the release of many. They described the ceasefire agreement as a political and security setback for Israel, hailing it as evidence of steadfast resistance and national unity.
The Palestinian factions emphasized the release of detainees as a national priority, pledging ongoing commitment to the cause of prisoners and their families. They called for national unity and a comprehensive political dialogue, advocating for a meeting under Egyptian auspices to formulate a unified national strategy for Gaza's post-ceasefire phase. This includes rebuilding national institutions and enhancing social solidarity through coordination among factions, civil society, and humanitarian organizations.
The factions rejected external control over Gaza's administration, affirming it as a Palestinian matter, while inviting Arab and international contributions to reconstruction and development efforts.
Former President Trump announced an agreement between Israel and Hamas on a 20-point plan, which includes a ceasefire and the exchange of Israeli captives for approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, alongside a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. The plan's second phase proposes establishing a new governance structure in Gaza without Hamas, forming a security force with Palestinian and foreign troops, and disarming Hamas.
Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have resulted in nearly 67,200 Palestinian deaths in Gaza, predominantly affecting women and children, and have rendered the enclave uninhabitable.
