Canberra: Australia announced Tuesday that it is providing up to AUD$3 million ($1.95 million) in humanitarian assistance to Vietnam following Typhoons Bualoi and Matmo. The aid package will include emergency relief supplies such as kitchen kits, hygiene kits, and shelter tool kits, as stated by Foreign Minister Penny Wong in a joint statement with Minister for International Development Anne Aly.

According to Anadolu Agency, Wong emphasized the commitment of Australia to support Vietnam during its recovery phase. "We know the path to recovery will take some time, and as longstanding friends and partners, Australia stands with Vietnam in its time of need," she said. Wong also highlighted ongoing collaboration with Vietnam on immediate relief efforts and building disaster resilience.

Typhoon Bualoi and Matmo caused a huge amount of destruction in Vietnam in late September and early October, with the two storms leaving over 80 people dead or missing. More than 200 homes were destroyed, and another 169,000 sustained damage or lost their roofing. Additionally, thousands of hectares of cultivated fields and aquaculture were destroyed, and more than 180,000 livestock and poultry were killed.
