Sharm el-sheikh: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday highlighted the critical need for Gaza's reconstruction, committing that Trkiye will undertake all necessary actions to meet the humanitarian and shelter requirements of Palestinians as winter approaches. This announcement followed a summit on Gaza held in Egypt, hosted by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
According to Anadolu Agency, the summit, which took place on Monday, gathered over 20 world leaders, including President Erdogan, in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh. The purpose was to sign a ceasefire agreement for Gaza. The event commenced with the arrival of international leaders, and President Trump delivered the opening remarks.
President Erdogan, alongside President Trump, President Sisi, and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, signed the accord. During a conversation with Turkish journalists aboard his return flight from Egypt, Erdogan emphasized the significance of diplomacy with Trump, describing it as 'extremely important' and expressing his intent to maintain it with 'the same sensitivity.'
Erdogan regarded the signatures at the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit as 'not just symbolic-they mark our commitment to peace as a part of history.' He expressed Trkiye's strong enthusiasm for establishing a peace order in Gaza.
In terms of reconstructing the besieged enclave, Erdogan stated that Trkiye seeks backing 'from all-from the Gulf countries to the United States and Europe,' stressing that current efforts are focused on ensuring the genocide in Gaza 'is not forgotten.' He also noted that around 350 humanitarian aid trucks from Trkiye have recently entered Gaza, highlighting the Hamas-Israel agreement's provision for at least 600 trucks daily.
The Turkish president reiterated Trkiye's stance on Palestine, affirming: 'The only solution to the Palestinian cause is the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with full territorial integrity, based on the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.'
Addressing the situation in Syria, Erdogan mentioned that Trkiye is persistently warning the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to 'not take the wrong paths' and to support Syria's unity and territorial integrity. He added that 'rapid integration of Syrian Democratic Forces with Syria will also accelerate Syria's development initiatives.'
