Moscow: The Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa are set to discuss the situation of Russia's military bases in Syria during an upcoming meeting in Moscow. This discussion is expected to be a key point during their conversation, as confirmed by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in a press briefing.

According to Anadolu Agency, Peskov revealed that there will be no press conference following the talks in the Russian capital. The Kremlin's earlier statement highlighted that the two leaders plan to address the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations, with a focus on trade, economy, and recent developments in the Middle East.

The visit marks President Sharaa's first official trip to Russia since he took office in December 2024. Syrian local media reported his arrival in Moscow earlier on Wednesday. Russia maintains two military facilities in Syria, a naval base in Tartus and an air base at Hmeimim, both strategically positioned on the Mediterranean coast.
