Washington: US President Donald Trump announced that he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea "in a couple of weeks." Speaking to reporters while hosting Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the White House, Trump expressed optimism about the upcoming talks.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump anticipates reaching a "fair deal" with Beijing following the South Korea meeting. He stated his belief that the meeting would improve US-China relations, suggesting that a positive outcome is likely. He also mentioned that the discussions with President Xi will cover multiple issues, though he did not provide specifics.

Trump revealed that he has received an invitation to visit China and plans to make the trip "fairly early next year." This announcement follows a tense period in US-China trade relations, marked by Trump's threat to impose an additional 100% tariff on Chinese imports due to Beijing's new export restrictions.

Discussing his Asia tour, Trump mentioned that he will be visiting several countries, including Malaysia and Japan. The Malaysian visit coincides with a summit of ASEAN, the Southeast Asian bloc, which Trump is expected to attend. Additionally, Trump noted that Prime Minister Albanese invited him to visit Australia, a prospect he is considering seriously.
