Beijing: China on Thursday urged the international community to 'follow the guidance' of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to ease the humanitarian crisis faced by Palestinians.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ICJ advisory opinion clarified that Israel is obligated to work with the UN and other agencies to ensure the provision of humanitarian assistance to the population in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun emphasized the need for the international community to heed the ICJ's opinion document, addressing the humanitarian challenges faced by the Palestinian people and striving for a just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian question. This statement followed the world court's ruling that Israel must comply with the Geneva Convention, facilitating relief efforts by third states and impartial humanitarian groups like the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) to ensure adequate aid reaches the Gaza Strip.

Guo highlighted China's submission before the ICJ, noting the court's clarification as a response to international concerns and expectations. He reiterated China's commitment to playing a constructive role in international law affairs, upholding international fairness, justice, and promoting the progress of international rule of law.

China's stance on the Palestinian question remains consistent and clear, with a firm support for the just cause of the Palestinian people. Pakistan echoed this sentiment, calling for the immediate and full implementation of the advisory opinion and the resumption of unhindered UNRWA operations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry reiterated its unwavering support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
