Ankara: Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz has been appointed as Turkey's new ambassador to Damascus, Syria, Turkish diplomatic sources announced on Friday. This appointment is part of a broader reshuffle of ambassadorial assignments approved by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan for several Turkish embassies and permanent missions.

According to Anadolu Agency, Yaprak Balkan, who currently serves as the director general for Bilateral Relations (Latin America), has been appointed as Turkey's permanent representative to the European Union. This position was previously held by Faruk Kaymakci, who will now serve as ambassador to Luxembourg.

Further changes include the appointment of Sebnem Cenk, the director general for Bilateral Relations (Central and West Africa), as Turkey's permanent representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Additionally, Ayda Unlu, the director general for Overseas Promotion and Cultural Affairs, has been named ambassador to Podgorica, Montenegro. Bilgin Ozkan, who is the deputy director general for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, has been appointed as ambassador to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
