Ankara: Trkiye has called for the immediate cessation of hostilities in the city of El-Fasher and its surrounding areas in Sudan. In a statement released on Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry emphasized the need for safe passage, the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid, and an end to attacks on civilians.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over the latest developments in Sudan, aligning with the statements made by the Arab League on the matter. The ministry condemned the atrocities committed against civilians in El-Fasher, which recently fell under the control of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The ministry reiterated Trkiye’s unequivocal support for the unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Sudan, stressing the importance of dialogue in finding a peaceful solution to the ongoing conflict. The civil war between the Sudanese army and the RSF has been ongoing since April 2023, resulting in thousands of deaths and displacing more than 14 million people.
