Ankara: Iran's Foreign Ministry on Friday condemned the 'massacres and violations' committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in El-Fasher, located in western Sudan, and affirmed its rejection of any parallel government or entities.

According to Anadolu Agency, this statement was made during a call received by Sudanese Foreign Minister Mohieldin Salem from his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi. The Sudan news agency (SUNA) reported that Salem received the call on Friday, during which Araghchi reaffirmed Iran's condemnation of the atrocities in El-Fasher perpetrated by the RSF.

Araghchi reiterated Iran's support for Sudan, its people, and its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He emphasized Iran's rejection of any parallel governments or entities, as reported by the agency.

Furthermore, the two ministers discussed the course of bilateral relations and explored ways to enhance them, according to SUNA.

Sudan has been engulfed in a civil war between the army and the RSF since April 2023, leading to thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions. El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, fell under RSF control on Sunday after enduring months of a siege.

Rights groups have accused the RSF of committing mass killings, detaining individuals, and attacking hospitals.
