Riyadh: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud held a phone conversation on Sunday to discuss the latest developments in the region and potential efforts to address them.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Saudi Foreign Ministry confirmed that the call, initiated by Secretary Rubio, also included a review of the bilateral relations between the United States and Saudi Arabia. However, specific details about the discussions on bilateral relations were not disclosed.

The region is currently facing several critical issues. Notably, the conflict in the Gaza Strip has been a significant concern. The war, described as genocidal, was recently halted after two years due to a ceasefire mediated by Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, and the United States. The first phase of this US-backed ceasefire came into effect on October 10, although reports indicate ongoing Israeli violations.

In addition to the situation in Gaza, other pressing regional developments include the conflict in Sudan and the intensifying Israeli military actions in southern Lebanon. These issues remain at the forefront of regional and international diplomatic efforts.
