Ankara: Trkiye has demonstrated an 'absolutely impressive will to reform' and is on a solid path toward stability and growth, according to Francois Gabella, vice chair of Switzerland Global Enterprise. Gabella, speaking to Anadolu, highlighted the positive developments in Trkiye's business environment during his recent visit, which coincided with the 19th Trkiye-Switzerland Economic Forum. The event was organized in collaboration with the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Trkiye, the Swiss Embassy, and other associations.
According to Anadolu Agency, the forum also saw the participation of Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat and Guy Parmellin, vice president of the Swiss Federal Council. Gabella emphasized Trkiye's strategic geopolitical position, which offers opportunities for collaboration in sectors such as energy, green technology, and infrastructure. He noted that Trkiye's role could facilitate Swiss penetration into regional markets where Switzerland has limited presence.
Gabella expressed optimism about the potential for cooperation between the two nations, particularly in industries like pharmaceuticals, where Switzerland holds significant expertise. He also acknowledged Trkiye's active involvement in large-scale projects across various regions, including Africa, and suggested that the nation's know-how in this sector complements Switzerland's capabilities.
During his visit, Gabella toured a technopark in Trkiye and was impressed by the country's technological advancements. He emphasized the importance of collaborations in tech and science, noting the wide array of technologies being developed, from micro technologies to biotech and space. Gabella highlighted the need for a supportive financial ecosystem to aid startups in demonstrating their potential and securing customers.
He pointed out that the Swiss financial ecosystem, known for investing beyond its borders, could provide capital for Turkish startups. Furthermore, Gabella discussed the global shift toward green energy, predicting increased use of solar and wind power, which presents challenges in production and distribution.
In terms of infrastructure, Gabella stressed the potential for joint projects between Trkiye and Switzerland, given Switzerland's expertise in building dams and highways internationally. He underscored the need for collaboration in construction engineering, machinery, hydraulics, and electricity to gain a competitive edge in major infrastructure endeavors.
