Chhattisgarh: At least eight people were killed and several injured when a passenger train collided with a freight train in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, officials said Tuesday. Sanjay Agrawal, a senior official of the state's Bilaspur district, reported that more than 15 individuals sustained injuries and have been transported to hospitals for treatment.

According to Anadolu Agency, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai communicated via US social media company X, stating that the state government is closely monitoring the situation with complete readiness and sensitivity. He assured that all necessary resources and medical assistance are being provided for the treatment of the injured.

All India Radio reported that relief and rescue operations are being conducted on a war footing, indicating the urgency and seriousness with which the authorities are handling the aftermath of the collision.
