Istanbul: Turkish Airlines, Trkiye's national flag carrier, announced on Thursday a significant agreement with GE Aerospace for the acquisition of engines and engine parts as part of its recent Boeing aircraft deal. This development is in alignment with the airline's strategic plan to expand its fleet and enhance its operational capabilities.

According to Anadolu Agency, Turkish Airlines' Board of Directors has decided to procure a total of 75 Boeing aircraft, which includes 50 firm and 25 optional orders for the B787-9 and B787-10 models. These new aircraft are scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2034, as outlined in a statement by the airline on Trkiye's Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).

The decision to partner with GE Aerospace comes after a thorough tender process focused on the procurement of engines, spare engines, and engine maintenance services. This agreement marks a critical step in Turkish Airlines' efforts to modernize and expand its fleet in the coming years.

In September, the airline had already announced a major purchase of 225 Boeing aircraft, including 75 orders for the B787-9 and B787-10 models, complemented by 150 orders for the 737-8 and 737-10 MAX models. At that time, Turkish Airlines was in discussions with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace to determine the best engine solutions for their new Boeing fleet.
