Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Thursday that Russia had launched a significant drone assault overnight, deploying 135 strike drones targeting energy infrastructure across multiple regions. This attack resulted in at least eight injuries in the Dnipro region.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy communicated via Telegram that the city of Kamianske was notably affected, with injuries to eight individuals, damage to a residential building, and impacts on railway infrastructure. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry highlighted that its air defense systems successfully intercepted or suppressed 108 of the drones originating from various Russian regions such as Kursk, Orel, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

The ministry further elaborated that the drones were intercepted in the north, south, and east of Ukraine, while 27 managed to hit 13 different locations. In response, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 75 Ukrainian drones over regions including Volgograd, Crimea, Voronezh, and Rostov.

Volgograd Region Governor Andrei Bocharov reported a casualty resulting from the attack. A man was killed by shrapnel when a drone struck a residential building in the city, causing damage to balconies and shattering windows. The drone debris also triggered a fire in an industrial zone, further escalating the situation.
