Khartoum: Six Sudanese civilians, including a child, were killed and 12 others injured when a rebel group allied with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) shelled residential areas in South Kordofan state, local medics reported.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Sudan Doctors Network condemned the attack in Dilling city by the Sudan People's Liberation Movement - Al-Hilu faction, labeling it as 'a new crime added to the record of horrific violations against civilians.' The group characterized the event as a war crime and a direct attack on innocents and medical centers providing essential services.

The network attributed full responsibility for the incident to the RSF and its allied faction, urging international humanitarian and human rights organizations to document these violations and offer medical and relief assistance to the affected residents. They highlighted the dire humanitarian conditions faced by civilians in Dilling city, who have been under a siege by the RSF for over two years.

In addition, the medical group noted an increasing influx of displaced civilians from El-Fasher, North Darfur's capital, to the Northern State due to worsening humanitarian conditions. Thousands have reportedly arrived in areas such as Al-Dabba and Dongola over recent days, surpassing the local communities' capacity to support them.

The group alerted that the displaced civilians are experiencing severe shortages of clean water, food, and health supplies. They called on the UN and humanitarian organizations for urgent intervention to deliver life-saving aid and coordinate relief efforts to ensure the dignity and safety of displaced families.

The RSF's recent capture of El-Fasher, a strategic city in the Darfur region, on October 26, has led to massacres of civilians, as reported by local and international bodies. This event has intensified concerns about a potential geographic partition of the war-torn country.

Since the onset of conflict on April 15, 2023, between the Sudanese army and the RSF, regional and international mediation efforts have failed to resolve the war, which has resulted in thousands of deaths and millions of displacements.
