Dilling: Several people were killed and injured when the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) bombed the city of Dilling in Sudan's South Kordofan state on Friday, medics said. Witnesses reported that the RSF and the allied Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) shelled several neighborhoods in the city.

According to Anadolu Agency, medics confirmed the casualties but did not provide an exact figure. Witnesses also noted that the Sudanese army responded with artillery fire targeting RSF positions northeast of Dilling. The situation remains tense as local media previously reported the RSF and SPLM-N deploying military reinforcements near the city.

There was no immediate comment from either of the warring factions regarding the latest developments. On Thursday, at least six people, including a child, were killed in artillery shelling by the SPLM on Dilling, which is under a tight siege by the RSF.

Fighting has intensified in the three Kordofan states in recent weeks, causing thousands of civilians to flee. The RSF's recent capture of El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, on October 26, has raised concerns among local and international organizations about potential massacres and the geographical partitioning of Sudan.

Since April 15, 2023, the Sudanese army and the RSF have been engaged in a conflict that has eluded resolution through regional and international mediation efforts. The ongoing war has resulted in thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions.
