Istanbul: Trkiye's flag carrier Turkish Airlines achieved a total revenue of $6.95 billion in the third quarter of the year, marking a 4.9% increase from the same period last year. Despite facing challenges such as trade wars and engine issues within the aviation sector, the airline managed to transport 27.2 million passengers, setting a record for the highest third-quarter passenger count in its history, as announced by the company on Friday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the airline has maintained continuous growth over the past 18 quarters, with an 8.2% rise in passenger capacity in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the previous year. This increase pushed the capacity to 43% above pre-pandemic levels. During the July-September period, the carrier's total revenues rose by 4.9% year-on-year to approximately $7 billion, driven by a strong contribution from passenger operations. Passenger revenues saw a 6.1% increase, fueled by a positive demand response to the expanded capacity.

Despite the overall growth in revenue, Turkish Airlines experienced a 21.3% decline in operating profit for the third quarter compared to the same period in 2024, reducing it to $1.1 billion. This decrease was attributed to a decline in unit revenue coupled with ongoing cost pressures. Additionally, the airline's net income fell by 10.7% to $1.4 billion in the third quarter.

Over the first nine months of the year, the airline's revenues reached $17.8 billion, reflecting a 4.5% year-on-year increase.
