Beijing: China on Friday declared that it is "unfair, unreasonable, and unfeasible" to require Beijing to participate in nuclear arms-control discussions following US President Donald Trump's announcement of discussing denuclearization with China and Russia.

According to Anadolu Agency, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning stated, "China's nuclear forces are not on the same scale as those of the US and Russia; it would be unfair, unreasonable and impractical at this stage to require China to join nuclear arms-control talks," as reported by the state-run Global Times.

Mao further emphasized that as the nation possessing the largest nuclear arsenal, the US should earnestly fulfill its special and primary responsibility for nuclear disarmament. She urged the US to significantly reduce its nuclear stockpile and create conditions conducive to achieving comprehensive and complete nuclear disarmament.

The response from Beijing follows Trump's remarks about having discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding denuclearization, which he described as a "great thing."

Trump was quoted earlier in the day by the White House on the US social media company X, stating, "We could blow up the world 150 times. There's no need for this. I've spoken to President Putin about it, I've spoken to President Xi about it -- and everybody would like to spend all of that money on other things."
