Thessaloniki: Trkiye's Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy inaugurated the restored Ataturk House in Thessaloniki, emphasizing its importance as a tribute to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Trkiye. Ersoy highlighted that honoring Ataturk means safeguarding the nation's future and taking responsibility for its well-being.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ersoy expressed respect and gratitude towards Ataturk, noting his significant impact on Trkiye as more than just a statesman. The restoration of the Ataturk House symbolizes the respect and loyalty to Ataturk's memory and legacy. Ersoy emphasized Trkiye's commitment to democracy, independence, and freedom, underlining that Ataturk's birthplace is symbolic of the republic's foundational steps.

The restoration and exhibition planning were initiated in 2022 by Trkiye's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, with the process commencing on December 19, 2024. The Ataturk House, now returned to its 1953 museum state, features refurbished rooms, an ethnographic exhibition, a library, and displays detailing the history of the house and Ataturk.

Ersoy highlighted Trkiye's dedication to preserving cultural heritage, noting that the Thessaloniki Ataturk House stands as an example of this commitment. He echoed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's message that the house should serve as a symbol of peace between Trkiye and Greece.

Greek Deputy Tourism Minister Anna Karamanli also remarked on the significance of the Ataturk House's opening, viewing it as a vital opportunity to enhance bilateral relations and foster good neighborliness between the two nations.
