China: China on Wednesday called for international collaboration and collective efforts to address the pressing issue of climate change as the 30th annual UN climate change conference (COP30) continues in Brazil.

According to Anadolu Agency, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun emphasized China's active participation in global climate governance during a news conference in Beijing. He expressed strong support for Brazil, which is presiding over COP30, in its efforts to host the crucial conference.

Guo highlighted that Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang delivered a keynote address at COP30 in Belem, stressing the importance of maintaining the right direction, turning climate commitments into tangible actions, and fostering openness and cooperation among nations.

The spokesman underscored that climate change is a common challenge for humanity, comparing all countries to "passengers aboard the same ship." He asserted that cooperation and joint effort are the only viable solutions to tackle this global issue.

Guo further elaborated on China's proactive measures in responding to climate challenges, identifying carbon peak and carbon neutrality as national strategic priorities. He pointed out that China has established the most comprehensive policy framework for carbon emissions reduction and has developed the largest and fastest-growing renewable energy system globally.

He concluded by stating Beijing's readiness to collaborate with all parties to adhere to the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities, aiming to achieve positive and balanced outcomes at the conference and contribute significantly to global climate governance.
