Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of launching a wave of strikes that resulted in the deaths of at least four people and injured dozens more. Zelenskyy stated that debris from an Iskander missile also struck the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kyiv.
According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy revealed that the attack involved around 430 drones and 18 missiles, including ballistic and aeroballistic types, which damaged numerous residential buildings in the capital and impacted multiple regions. He mentioned that a Zircon missile was preliminarily identified in the Sumy region. Emergency services are continuing their operations at the affected sites, while Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and Air Force Commander Anatolii Kryvonozhko have been briefing Zelenskyy on rescue efforts and air defense measures.
Zelenskyy has urged Europe and the US to provide additional air defense systems and interceptor missiles. He emphasized the need for strengthened sanctions to prevent further attacks. Meanwhile, Russian authorities claimed that 216 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight across several regions and over the Black Sea. In response, Ukrainian officials reported widespread Russian strikes hitting multiple regions.
In Kherson, regional head Oleksandr Prokudin reported that 36 settlements were shelled, resulting in one death and three injuries. Infrastructure and transport facilities, including 18 houses, were damaged. Zaporizhzhia regional governor Ivan Fedorov reported 731 strikes on 20 settlements, leading to the deaths of four people. The attacks included airstrikes, MLRS barrages, and over 400 drone attacks on towns such as Bilenke, Gulyaipole, and Mala Tokmachka. In a separate incident, two civilians were killed in an FPV drone strike in Preobrazhenka.
In Kyiv, the State Emergency Service reported one fatality and at least 24 injuries following missile strikes that caused fires in several districts, leading to evacuations from high-rise buildings. Additionally, in the Kirovohrad region, regional head Andriy Raykovych reported that 16 settlements were left without electricity after a power line was damaged in a strike.
