Pyongyang: North Korea accused the Group of Seven nations on Thursday of applying a 'double-standard' after the G7 foreign ministers again called for its 'complete denuclearization,' denouncing the bloc's position as hostile and unconstitutional. North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui, in a statement issued through the state-run Korean Central News Agency, said the G7's latest joint communique from Canada 'ignored and violated' North Korea's Constitution.

According to Anadolu Agency, Choe expressed strong dissatisfaction and regret at what she described as the "undisguised hostile act" by the G7 foreign ministers, labeling it a direct violation of North Korea's Constitution. She categorically rejected the G7's position, emphasizing Pyongyang's stance that its nuclear arsenal is essential in the current geopolitical climate.

Choe argued that in the current 'grim geopolitical environment,' Pyongyang's possession of nuclear weapons remains the most correct option to deter what she described as the most dangerous and hostile states. She insisted that no one has the right to compel North Korea to violate its Constitution or pressure it into amending it.

Highlighting North Korea's perspective on regional stability, Choe stated that peace on the Korean peninsula and in the Asia-Pacific region can be achieved not through unrealistic denuclearization efforts but by respecting North Korea's Constitution. She reiterated leader Kim Jong Un's position that North Korea's nuclear forces are a permanent reality, regardless of international calls for denuclearization.

Choe also criticized the G7 for lacking the authority to dictate security choices to sovereign nations. She accused the group of double standards, highlighting that the G7 remains silent on nuclear rhetoric within its own members while focusing on North Korea's denuclearization. The G7 foreign ministers, meanwhile, condemned North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile programs and expressed concern over Pyongyang's cryptocurrency thefts and the issue of abductions.
