Beijing: China announced the discovery of its largest single gold deposit since 1949. The Dadonggou Gold Mine, located in the northeastern province of Liaoning, boasts 1,444.49 tons of proven gold reserves, as confirmed by the Ministry of Natural Resources.
According to Anadolu Agency, the state-run Global Times noted that the mine has successfully undergone an economic feasibility assessment, thus paving the way for its development. Classified as a super-large, open-pit mine, the deposit holds an estimated 2.586 billion tons of ore above the 720-meter elevation, with an average gold content of 0.56 grams per ton.
The identification of the mine followed a notably swift 15-month exploration process. This rapid survey could serve as a potential model for future 'short-cycle, high-quality' mineral exploration efforts, as highlighted in the report.
